I haven't been able to find any examples of flower arrangements that I like to help decorate our ceremony space (an old lodge in a state park), so I'm thinking about doing something with decorative branches instead. (like these: www.nettletonhollow.com/branches.html)

Has anyone seen photos of decorative branches used for wedding decor? I'd love to see some inspiration/examples

I love this idea! I've been researching making centerpieces from manzanita branches, inspired by this georgeous pic:
http://botanicalschicago.com/portfolio/centerpiece/center01.jpg

I actually found directions from the exact floral company that made this piece too (scroll down to Manzanita tree materials):
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=News&id=2245723

I have already ordered and recieved the branches from here: http://www.pinecones.com/prod.html#anchor793943

I am happy with them and think that I got the best price. Nettelhollow seemed a little pricey.
Next step, setting the branches into these cool old looking Grecian urn planters with quick set cement and having friends decorate them as they please. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Yes! A friend of mine had a New Year's Eve wedding. They took branches from trees, spray-painted them white and silver and attached them to two-by-fours and stood them up to look like a winter forest.

Here's one that shows the backdrop of the stage where they had their ceremony. This was taken at the end of the reception so things were a little messy by then. (tidbit: I'm the one in the middle between FH and another friend)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sunflowerbutt/355230460/
more:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sunflowerbutt/347098204/
they also put some in vases for the tables during the reception:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sunflowerbutt/347097459/

The one tip I have is that if the branches are going to be brittle, have some extra on hand, since they may break easily.

Does anyone know where to get chestnut branches? The chestnuts look like green pom-poms when they are in bloom. An internet search did not yield any worthwhile results.

Dozeroni Could you tell me where the photo w/the red branch and birds is from?

If anyone is looking for birds Bill's Flower Market in New York has them. I think you can also order them online.

More Manzanita branch ideas...

I can't find an image of that branch centerpiece alone, but you get the idea. This is from the winter martha stewart weddings issue.

The bird and branch centerpieces is from a thread called "cheapie centerpieces".

Ugly link: http://kvetch.indiebride.com/index.php?t=msg&goto=689855 &rid=8865&S=ab729c21d60451ab04121b65bf22ad92#msg_689 855

I believe it's from a rachel ray magazine/website

I've used branches once in a centerpiece. I spray painted the branches gold and put them in a vase with peacock feathers for a NYE party.

This weekend for my partner's art showing I was going to use white branches and spray paint the tips of each branch with silver sparkle paint so that just the ends sparkled but due to time contraints went with a more simple centerpiece.

I wish I had taken pictures of the the gold branches and peacock feather centerpiece because it was very pretty and I got a lot of complements.

My own approach would be to instruct them to cram it with walnuts, but that's another story.

I love the photo of the centerpiece with the white lights near the bottom. I wish I could see the picture a little larger. Do you know what it is made of or where you found the image?

Hey,
Newbie here but this is what I'm doing for my humble but stunning wedding decorations:
1. Mostly dried flowers from driedflowersdirect.com ($4.50 a bunch for most of them Smile )
2. Fresh farmers market flowers of a variety tbd.
3. Hopefully a recreation of these marvelous things: http://birchandwillow.com/newpages/pendants.htm and http://birchandwillow.com/newpages/sconces.htm Luckily, there is an infestation of the invasive species of vines I need just a couple blocks away. So, I get to help a Boston park while I gather my supplies for freeeeeeee.
Total cost: hopefully $2-300 and stunning results.

"Modern Wood Centerpiece
Millinery birds perch on branches blooming with handmade paper blossoms. Blue vases (positioned between seats so conversation can flow) match the color of the plates, which also have a blossom motif. A crepe-paper bloom decorates each place card. Create this extra-special setting for a head table, and set others with smaller paper-blossom arrangements or candles only. You can get branches from a florist or your backyard. Use slightly varying shades of white or pink paper for natural-looking flowers; or bright colors could be fanciful. Gravel inside the vases keeps them steady. Cut holes in place cards with a small flower punch; the points will secure the bloom."

bluepencil,
Crate and Barrel has faux chestnut branches for $16.95 each. I've been looking at those and the magnolia branches. Anyone out there that might be interested in a decorations swap/cost split with either of those? I'd need them on June 16.

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/botanicals/home-accessories/v also has cherry blossom branches, freesia and some others...

Hello,
I am getting married in October and have loved the look of the manzantita branches and and want to create a look that will add to the theme of "enchanted forest during the fall season." Ambitious perhaps, but I am determined to do it while on a budget. I'm not going to do anything elaborate. but I want to know if anyone has doe this type of thing before. I looked at the instructions one of the other brides listed, but wanted to know if anyone else (other than a florist) did something lke this and how they went about doing it.

Thanks!

Here are the boutineires that I made for our wedding. They are made of grapevine (off a wreath for WAY cheaper than buying strands..from Hobby Lobby for $3.00 for all of them) and home decor eucalyptus. We MAY add flowers later, but I like the way they turned out. I just wrapped the stems in floral tape and brown ribbon. Bear in mind this was a pic of my first one and you can see the floral tape peeking through. My bad. Smile

Best part is that my friend is getting married after me and using them later!!! I'm all about recycling!!

I love these looks but I'd like to do it myself, has anyone found any online branch vendors other than Pier 1? I'm in the Los Angeles area so if anyone knows any retailers out here that would work too.

Thanks!

I love looking at everyone's ideas on this thread!

I have a question for my fellow paper flower making brides out there...if you are making them ahead of time...say now, but your wedding, is oh, lets say 9.29.07...how do you plan on storing them, so they don't get messed up or all dusty?? I have time on my hands to make them now, but I don't know how to store them. Especially if I make all that I need right now. By the way, I got a paper source pattern from another IB...it's a magnolia pattern...I tried it the other day using paper from nepalesepaper.com, and they look really great!

FoxBride--I really like the sticks around the votive holder.

I love all of these ideas...I'm planning on making my bouquets with curly willow, but I also really love the look of what is refered to as "monkey tail" on a lot of florist's websites. For some reason I can't find it forsale online which might prevent me from doing the centerpieces I am invisioning. Anyone know where I can get it or what it's proper name is?
