I posted this here at urging of other Indies!
I am on a budget but found my dream dress for only $2100 (insert sarcasm here!) I heard horror stories about buying online but tried it anyway. I found it on ebay at gianinarbridal (store name) and it cost $80 plus $90 shipping. They made it to my specific measurements to save on alteration costs. AFter it arrived I realized my seamstress measured me wrong and did not include my shoes. The dress was too short but sooo beautiful. The seamstress said she could fix it for $200. I contacted the store, when I contact them, they sold me a second dress for half price without questions and it fit perfectly! I now have two dresses. They are both incredible! They are not EXACTLY like the original, but so close nobody will be able to tell. The only difference was the wrinkles across the butt were a little less defined.

The beading is extravagent and I'm thrilled. The only bad thing is it takes almost a month to get it, but well worth the wait. (I think David's wanted 3 months anyway)

Just thought I would share a GOOD online bridal dress purchase which allowed me to get my dream dress for almost nothing!

Good luck brides! You CAN have your dream wedding for a fraction of the cost!

Here is the link to the dress I bought.

Oh my goodness naturegirl, thank you so much for posting about that seller. I’ve been seriously considering having a dress made because there’s an 8 SIZE difference between my largest and smallest measurements and just thinking about how many alterations I would need makes me lightheaded.

Your dress looks amazing; I wish the ebay listing had more detailed pictures. Do you have any your self or a link to the original dress?

Bijou, absolutely we do! I'd love to see details close-up! How is the finishing on the seams? How is the beading?

It's so mice to hear about a GOOD experience like this!

The beading was really really good. No pulled threads, no loose beads, buttons and zipper were on there for good Very Happy The dress was lined, but given that no "accidents" happened, I'll say the seams must have been great. I specified ivory since they game me a choice.

Wow! That looks beautiful bijou, and they did a great job. Also, I love your blog by the way!

Naturegirl - do you have photos of your actual dress? The original is very pretty. I'd love to see how yours looks!

Does anyone know if they will make a dress based on a photo you send them?

Thanks Panny and Mockingbird296 (for the dress and blog compliments Smile )

I think they do make dresses from a photograph (they're really good about writing back if you email them) They usually estimate 1 month for the dress to be made and ship to you and I think mine took 5 weeks (way less than a bridal shop would!) I would advise that when you get measured (whether you do it yourself or not) get the measurements in both inches and centimeters, if they do the conversion from inches, there could be some error, so give them the CM right off the bat.

Holy cow, bijou, you look terrific! That dress came out very nicely! And NatureGirl, I know I'm not the only one who would love to see pics of your dress, too! (The one that arrived, not just the advertisement pic!)

I went to their website and started looking at the "Bridal Gown" page. I was pretty surprised at the enlargements of the photos, because so many looked very cheap and shoddy. I started to get confused, because they didn't look like bijou's lovely dress. So I went back out, and tried "Redesigned Gown" instead. I really don't know what the difference is, but the ones in those pictures had real live models instead of the mannequin, and the dresses looked much better. I don't know whether that means the dresses in the pictures are ones that they made, or ones they are offering to reproduce. Since you both worked with this company, maybe you know the answer? Or what the difference is between "Bridal Gowns" and "Redesigned Gowns" in general?

The dresses on actual models are the ones they're offering to reproduce. The ones on the mannequins are the ones they've reproduced. I think they just have bad mannequins coz my dress looked better than it did on their mannequin Smile

My dress can be seen at www.gettinhitched.info

Bear in mind that it was supposed to be outdoors and moved indoors last minute..so the site was pretty funny. Almost like a 1980's redneck prom! HAHA

The dress actually fit better when I got it, but lost almost 20 lbs right before the wedding due to running around. It was great. Everyone was talking about the $2000 dress I was wearing. I was actually called a liar about my budget wedding by my snooty aunts. I overheard "We all know she spent $2000 on a dress and $3000 on flowers. This WAS NOT budget."

HAHA!!! Little did they know!!!
