I wasn’t going to post a re-cap, since i didn’t get around to actually posting much here (although i did more than my fair share of lurking!) But reading about all the fabulously unique days created by IBs gave me and my DH the courage to create a wedding that really reflected our personalities, both individually and as a couple.... so hopefully by posting a few of our photos I can pass on some of that inspiration! Very Happy
My DH and I had some amazing vendors, but we did pretty much everything that we could do ourselves - from the stationery, to the ceremony & reception flowers & decorations, and even organizing for all of the guys' suits to be made by a fantastic tailor we found on a recent trip to Vietnam via email in broken english... Laughing

We "borrowed" the idea of the wine ceremony from other IBs. This is us putting our letters and vows in the box with the wine.

Thanks so much everyone. Our cake was by Sarah-Jane at Cake That. For any IBs in Queensland, I can't recommend her enough. She took the cake design that DH and I dreamed up and brought it to life... and it tasted just as good as it looked! Very Happy Notylia the shrug is from Bonzie on Etsy. I am in love with her too.

I'd like to echo everything that everyone's said about your cake, printed materials, shrug and general style and I'd also like to throw in Wows for the succulents and the cuff. I don't usually like white and green bouquets, but white and green with succulents - Oooo. Nice. Everything is so elegant. This is one of those recaps that made me think, hmm, if I had it to do over again I'd steal all sorts of stuff from this one.

And congratulations!

Thanks OneLostMitten... DH & I both have a bit of design experience and it was (surprisingly) heaps of fun to create all our printed stuff together.

And yes those are succulents in my bouquet! I planted them after the wedding and they've already grown heaps. It's awesome to have a little living reminder of the day. Very Happy

I realized I forgot to post a photo of our favors which was totally DH's baby. He came up with the idea for his & hers bath bombs for each of our guests (beer flavored for the guys, mocha for the girls) and hand made all of them. We designed the packaging together and filled the boxes with tea-lights and instructions on the back to take the romance of the day home. They were a huge hit with our guests!!

Awesome - we did this too Smile
Over a year later they look fantastic.
We also did this with the twisted willow from my cousin's wedding table arrangements.

Ooh - Eves on the Park (or their Teneriffe restaurant) is on my venue shortlist. How were they to work with? And given the weather at the moment, did they have a wet-weather option?

Oh - congratulations too! It's exciting to see another IB from this neck of the woods!

Thanks everyone! smooshmom my multicolor eyes usually attract a chorus of "what the?!" when anyone notices, it isn't always a positive so thank you for the kind words!!

Alocin we originally had Eves on the River on our list too but the Parkland restaurant ended up suiting our more modern black & white theme better and we also weren't all that thrilled with the site they offered at the river restaurant for the ceremony. From what I recall they didn't really have a wet weather option at the river restaurant, apart from moving the ceremony into the actual restaurant itself. We found them great to deal with in the lead up to our day, but unfortunately we lucked out a little with our venue's Events Manager leaving to go on maternity leave right before our wedding. The Events Manager from the other restaurant was trying to fill both roles at the time and wasn't actually present for our reception. As a result we found the drinks service to be slow (we went with the all-inclusive package for food and drinks) but even though we had a lot of people not drinking, I was still somehow having to look around for waitstaff to get a glass of champagne for the toasts! Rolling Eyes On the upside, the food was brilliant and they're really open to you doing almost whatever you want in terms of decor.

Another question, if I may - where did you get your dress? I've only looked in a couple of dress shops in Brisbane really briefly 'cos the wedding's not for a while yet, but I haven't seen anything resembling what I'd want to wear.

Also, where were the pix with the industrial brick wall taken? I can pretty much place everywhere else, but that's escaping me! (I love the industrial/urban contrast with the rest of the garden wedding shots.)

thanks!

My dress was by Hilde Heim www.hildeheim.com She stocks her own designs as well as Rembo Styling which is a European designer - some of those gowns are really beautiful and very different to everything else I found in Brisbane. My dress was made-to-measure though. I just went to her with the design I had in my head and she drew it up for me and it went from there. She was fabulous to work with, she really was the one vendor who didn't look at me strangely when I described what I wanted and let my inner rock chick shine! Very Happy

The brick wall is the Powerhouse in New Farm. It's an awesome spot for photos. The shots in the doorway were also taken there. My DH is a photographer so its one of his favourite haunts!

Um. Yeah, I should've figured out the Powerhouse as it's my no 1 preferred venue for the reception and I was mainly asking to see if there was somewhere else similar in case it didn't work out. Laughing

Thanks for the dress link!

I've really been creeping around here for a while and HAD to register so that I could tell you what a GORGEOUS wedding this was! Where on earth did you get that fascinator?! I have been searching high and low and haven't been able to spot one even half as beautiful as the one you chose to wear. I must find out where it came from!!

Fantastic! You truly are stunning!!

*divertida* and LoveLoveLove I dreamed up my fascinator and veil myself after not being able to find what i wanted in bridal stores or online. I almost went with a birdcage veil before I started playing around with veiling and am so glad I changed my mind... it was probably the most talked about aspect of the wedding Laughing

To the IB who emailed me to ask if I was interested in selling my headpiece, I'm sorry... my email thought your message was junk and deleted it before I was able to reply! Rolling Eyes
I'm not looking at selling my own headpiece but would be happy to make something similar for you to match your dress if you were interested. Please email me again - I've turned the junk mail filter off! Very Happy
